Brace Face No More!

OK...here's the before and afters...Seth is no longer a "metal head"!

Big Man turns 12! (but he's still my baby!)

Turning 12 is very significant for a couple of reasons. In our church, young men may receive the priesthood at 12. They also can participate in other wonderful activities like church basketball and "big boy" Scouts. It was an amazing day as a Mom because it forced me to reflect on the last 12 years...so many ups and a few downs! I remember so clearly the snowy night we arrived at the hospital to deliver our first born son. When he was born, the doctor announced "He won't be hard to love". He was right. It hasn't been difficult to love him. At times hard to like the things he is doing, but never hard to love. I remember the "hard year" from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 where he insisted on banging his head and eventually put a hole in the wall the size of his noggin. I reflect on his transformation when he started preschool and started blossoming....the years have gone by so quickly! Happy Birthday, Seth! Thank you for making me a better person.

I know a little lady who swallowed a tooth...

My sweet daughter had two very, very loose front teeth. While eating breakfast, one of them came out and she swallowed it! She was very distraught but soon recovered. At school that day, a teacher was able to wiggle loose the other hanging tooth. So she came home with both front teeth missing!
After school she wrote a letter to the tooth fairy. She explained the tragic event of the morning so that she would still receive her money. She pleaded with the tooth fairy.."I swallowed my tooth. I hope you understand". She received a generous gift of $5.oo from the tooth fairy. I think she felt a little bit sorry for Macy and threw in a little extra this time!

Thank heavens for little girls...and thank heavens I got one!!!

Miss Macy dressed up as "Fancy Nancy" for character dress up day and I must say she turned out adorable! It was Mom's first time ever using rollers in her hair overnight and I was a bit intimidated, but the curls turned out fabulous!
Thank you Ami, my big sister for suggesting the thermal rollers! It's so fun to have a little girl to dress up for character day...we even had to do her nails because a girl must have fancy nails! Thank heavens for little girls!!!

My baby is a decade old!!!

"Little Wukey" as he is affectionately called, turned 10 on Friday. He is a bright, funny, helpful, great kid who also happens to be a great friend, football player, and all around wonderful son. He has really blossomed over the last year. He is more confident and seems to be "coming into himself" as he approaches being a "pre-teen"....is he a "tween"? I don't know all the terms...but anyways...we love him! Here's a few pictures from his Par-tay!

Crazyland, Wonderland, or maybe Candyland?

We were driving today...Evan, Jack, and I...and we had a lot of stops to make. It was a busy, happy day. On our way to a friend's house to pick some stuff up, I was feeling a bit stressed because I was running late and had so much to do before the big kids came home. So Evan and I had a funny conversation...it goes like this....

"Mom, where are we going", says Evan
"We're going to crazyland", says Mom
"Have you ever been to crazyland?, replied Evan
"Yes I have", says Mom
"Well I've been to Wonderland" says Evan
"Really- what's it like?", Mom inquired
"I don't want to tell You", Evan says.

He eventually divulged that there are lots of candy canes there. He got me thinking about how I look at my life. Do I see it as "Crazyland" or "Wonderland"? He may of thinking about "Candyland" because it has all his favorite treats.

I think if I looked at life more through his eyes, I would see more wonder. Just something to think about.
